FeSiBa inoculant is an important additive in foundries that helps improve the quality of castings. It works by promoting the formation of graphite in the metal, reducing chill (hard spots), and refining the shape and distribution of graphite flakes. The benefits are usually seen within 5-8 minutes after adding it to the molten metal.
For castings, FeSiBa helps convert carbon into graphite, preventing the formation of white iron, and improving the number and quality of the graphite structures. This results in stronger and more durable castings. For ductile iron, it aids in creating spherical graphite shapes, which improves the overall strength and flexibility of the castings.
